I used to be a die-hard registered and voting Republican and I just voted a straight Democratic ticket because I am so fed up with the party that is in power now. I'm sick of the scandals, the wasted money, and the lack of direction and progress. Most of the Democrats that just won are actually fairly conservative. They believe in preserving the right to bear arms and are pro-life. I am optimistic that Bush's cronies can't control the house to support their agenda anymore instead of that of the American people. Today was a good day. Now we'll just wait on Montana and Virginia for the Senate results!

I agree with much of what you say, but how is having the Congress run by Democrats going to help any of that? They had everything for a really long time. I don't want unemployment, more welfare benefits and inflation like there used to be.

Marijuana should be legalized and TAXED. It should be sold like alcohol and not by dealers who sell any kind of drug to young people. Abortion has overshadowed too many elections. Single issues have distorted outcomes repeatedly.

The Republicans have made a lot of mistakes. They tend to be naive and give voters the benefit of the doubt. There has been a lot of good legislation recently that has not been reported on by the media. People don't even have a way of getting the information they need to vote, not even me, and I put lots of time into following or trying to follow what's going on. I fear it will get so much worse and not get better at all.

I'm excited about what will happen come January. There will finnally be some resistance to President Bush, who has always just done whatever he wanted without any oversight. I can't wait until the final results of Montana and Virginia. I think Webb has Virginia, I'm more worried about Montana, there are still about 25% of precincts not reporting. Hopefully Tester can hold on and we gain control of the Senate as well. I also and extreamly excited that Gov. Granholm won in Michigan, Dick Devos spent about $50,000,000 of his own money trying to buy the election, he started his TV ads about 3 months before anyone in the Country and I'm happy to see that Michigan did not let someone buy an election.

This could turn out to be the best thing for the conservatives. Republicans will do some soul searching, and likely get back to their roots next election by putting Mitt Romney up for President.

Also, President Bush's Presidency may be saved. Not entirely, but the same way that Clinton got a lot done by meeting his Republican Congress halfway on Medicare, NAFTA, etc., Bush will have the opportunity to make some domestic policy achievements for the first time during his Presidency by meeting Democrats halfway.

We'll see if he goes down fighting or rescues his legacy by comprimising.

Well, wether you are a Republican or whatever else, the bottom line is that you are someone with some sense in your head. I wish more people thought like you instead of following others like blind sheep. Or is it that they like their money thrown in the trash and people with no common sense making decisions for us. By the way, when are you running for office?

Actually, I am. ;)

This is the best thing that could have happened for Republicans. It means the dems will have to stand on something at last, and that will probably kill their chances in 2008.
