Yes, I have, they were friends of mine, and still are.
I decided to be direct, and not react defensively; so I said, "that's your story, and I've got mine." then walked away with confident attitude.

I have, I figured the other person should know me well enough that they would know what was being said was untrue. I said nothing and let my actions speak for themselves. I don't find it necessary to defend myself all the time. If you know mw, you know what kind of a person I am my history and my ctions speak for themselves. If you don't know me, no amount of protesting, explaining or whatever is going to make you believe any more or any less that I am who I say I am.
In the end it turned out that the listener hd little respect for the person saying those things because they knew me well enough to know they were not true and they remained good friends with me. The accser after coming to apologize because too many people told her she was wrong, just faded out of the picture- and I said nothing to anyone regarding what I heard or knew

I have, and honestly its painful especially if the person being told about it matters to you.
It was a very close relative of mine telling things to my Dad that were untrue and bad. I was at that time trying to make things better between me and him, but it became even more difficult and trust me...things have never improved.
I thought of confronting that person about it but again it wasn't gonna be the ultimate solution. So I kept quiet about it and decided that if the person believes in me at some point they will prove otherwise. I also knew that not long the lies and ill motifs will catch up with her. (never lie if you don't want to remember what you said).
I resolved not to mind what people say about me if it does not reflect the true me.

yip, i told them to get a life and get their facts straight and to come to ME if they ever have something else to say. Told them never to judge another person unless they have walked in that persons shoes. What they were talking about was true but facts were all wrong, people added their own little bits of stimulating gossip to the story.. after that I have never talked badly of anyone behind their back, it's a horrible thing to do.

My brother told my once girlfriend I was cheating on her...she believed him and then slept with him...that's what he wanted to do and he did it. it was untrue about my sleeping around, that is until she did.
I beat him up and left her, she found out I had been faithful and wanted me to forgive and forget....I did neither.

Yes, and I interrupted in protest - won't tell the details, though. Let your imagination run :-)
