Rescue Remedy is excellent for anxiety. You can get it in a spray form that you spray under your tongue, and it works almost immediately. And it's not mind over matter - I didn't think it would work but tried it anyway and it definitely does. St John's Wort is good, but get the one with a dose you only have to take once a day, or it's a pain to remember. It takes about a month to really start working. And ask at the pharmacy, because it can affect the Pill. But if they don't work, don;t feel bad about going on anti-depressants ( St John's worked well enough for me that I didn't have to), because it can be a chemical problem that makes you feel so low and a synthetic antidepressant might be the only thing that will work. Good luck.

there are a few supplements available such as ginko bilboa, st johns wart, even flaxseed oil is said to have a positive effect on mood.

However, I have read recently of a case study about a woman who for years suffered terribly with depression, attempted suicide twice, and really just could not function normally because her depression was just to crippleing.

She had counciling with psychitrists and psycologists and had almost every anti depressant prescribed to her to no real avail.

Until she met a doctor who changed her diet as strange as it may sound she made a complete recovery, 4 years on she hasnt looked back and is now "as happy as larry!"

The change in diet was an elimination of all fast food, Processed foods, anything with sugars apart from fruit, no breads, essentially the diet was high in fatty fish such as salmon, lean meats mostly chicken and lots and lots of vegtables and fruits, she also only consumed water for liquid intake. She also did moderatly intense cardio exercise for 30-40mins 3-4x a week.

My point is this, too many people try to fix things with pills and supplements when in reality they are only getting what they would from a normal healthy lifestyle, there really is no need to supplement on top of that. Quite silly really to do all the bad things and then try to fix it with a natural supplement dont you think?

Hope if you try this it really works for you.

I've heard St. John's Wort is an herb that helps against depression.

I've never taken it though, so I don't know if there are side effects or if it's as potent as prescription medication. Ask your doctor about it, before switching from your meds to an herb.

Good luck!

St John's Wort, also known as hypericum, has been proven to help in mild to moderate cases of depression, but not in severe cases. It can take up to 6 weeks for its effect to be noticeable, though for me it only took about 2 weeks. It can adversely affect other medications and SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN while you're taking anti-depressants. From my experience, doctors don't know much about it, so discuss it with your pharmacist or a qualified natural therapist or herbalist.

St John's Wort is the herbal equivalent to a well-known anti-depressant. Bach's Rescue Remedy is excellent for anxiety attacks. Also, include lots of food containing omega 3 in your diet i.e. oily fish such as tuna and salmon. Camomile tea also calms you down.

I've heard that calcium is a natural tranquilizer. And magnesium is important for nerves and for calcium absorption. I know I feel better when I drink more milk and and eat stuff with magnesium. I've also started taking Ginsana and I like the results so far.

It's likely that you're eating too fast. Try holding a conversation while using a meal so you're certainly not gulping down more than you have to feel full.
