I like a variety of genre:
1. Classics (circa 50's,60's, 70's and 80's)
2. Award-winning films (Oscar and Golden Globe winners)
3. Action and Suspense (military/police, detective/spy, mystery)
4. Science Fiction, Futuristic, and Fantasy
5. Comedy and Romantic Comedy
6. Drama (not all drama, just those imparting serious life lessons or exploring real world issues, i.e. AIDS, domestic violence, urban degradation, etc.)
7. Historical documentaries and Biographical films
8. Movie adaptations of novels, stage plays, comic books, etc.
9. Independent films exploring topics never dealt with before
10. Musicals
11. Modern adaptation of old films
12. Political satires and parodies
I'm not particularly fond of horror and scary movies.

I love stupid ones, like Not Another Teen Movie, and comedies like Borat. Sometimes romantic comedies, but NEVER the ones with Jennifer Lopez in them. I don't care much for drama or thrillers.

Dramas that are based on true stories, for the most part. I also like a little science fiction and a good thriller once in a while.

Mainly I like the first three genres you mention. Romantic is tolerable if I have someone to snuggle with. I DON'T do gory graphic "horror" movies.
Dramas touch my heart. Comedies are good if they can really make me laugh (American Pie series are prime examples). A good combo of the two is the film "Almost Famous".
A rare thriller I can enjoy is one that is totally void of any gore; an ability few screenwriters/directors possess for it calls for intellect and masterful theatrical skill.

Personally, I like movies such as "Smokey and the Bandit", "The Dukes of Hazzard" (TV and Movie), and "Talladega Nights" Basically, just action, comedy, and racing movies. I also like westerns.
