Here is a link for you sweety. Mostly, it is a symbol of acceptence, acceptence of everyone's sexual proclivites, so long as they hurt no one, race,creed,sex, everything that make our community so wonderful. Thats just my personal view.

The rainbow used to be a symbol of the anti-racism movement but the gays highjacked it in the 80's

Orginally the Christians have used it for decades, then the gay community started using it, then the Christians took them to court, they lost. So they've modified the rainbow symbol to get around the copywrited rainbow.

Since the 1980's, and why is so they can identify each other in crowds and as they travel in their cars

Because it's a ray of colour which slightly blend as it gets into its own true colour. All people are different, some are true shades and some are a blend of shades, in between. Regardless all shades, blends are beautiful! Rainbows featuring all mixes are spectacular, don't u think? wouldn't it be boring if we were all one shade?
