They rather see tax cuts for billionaires. Self-loath dumbasses are like that though

Minimum wage studies have shown that raising the minimum wage does not result in job losses. It increases disposable income among a group most likely to have a low savings rate. This increases the velocity of money and actually accelerates the economy. At the very least, the minimum wage should be indexed to the inflation rate. It makes too much sense not to do. $5.15 is not a living wage. Besides the fact that it's great economics, indexing the minimum wage is good public policy because it's the morally correct decision.

Weighing Minimum Wage Hikes
Oregon's Boost Didn't Curb Growth,
But Did Squeeze Some Employers
Four years later, though it is impossible to say what would have happened had the minimum not been raised, Oregon's experience suggests the most strident doomsayers were wrong. Private, nonfarm payrolls are up 8% over the past four years, nearly twice the national increase. Wages are up, too. Job growth is strong in industries employing many minimum-wage workers, such as restaurants and hotels. Oregon's estimated 5.4% unemployment rate for 2006, though higher than the national average, is down from 7.6% in 2002, when the state was emerging from a recession.

I voted against the raise for the minimum wage because I think that most of the people making the lowest wages are young people with little to no experience just starting to work. I think it will be way more difficult for those people getting their first job to be hired.
This raise across the board will mean fewer jobs over all, especially where things aren't so good. It will hurt small businesses since they may not be able to hire anyone and may have to close their businesses.

I think its the stupid issuse to begin with because the increase of minimum wage puts people out of the job market and 3/4 of economicsts know the minimum wage takes the low skilled workers out of the job market. Most wages that low go to teenagers. I say abolish the miminum wage let the markets work it out, and have policy a in place to determine which workers are in poverty and give them income tax credits to those workers full time to increase the wage that way. Mandate on business prices go up, and small shops layoff workers. Its economics 101 the higher the wage is from the equilburim it will create deadwieght and efficencently in the economy.

Raising minimum wage increases job satisfaction among entry level employees. It also increases their spending power. The teenager flipping burgers at McDonald's has more money to spend at the mall. The cashier at the mall has more money to spend at say, McDonald's. It really balances out. Small family run businesses may need exemptions to help them stay in business, but those businesses know how to get around govt laws and taxes anyway. A two dollar an hour increase phased in over two years will have very little negative effects for big corporations.

Isn't it ironic that the same government that keeps giving itself pay raise after pay raise tells us that increasing minimum wage is bad and may increase the price of goods...even though it already has. Gotta love the irony and the same party that is a staunch opponent of welfare is also a staunch opponent of aiding the workforce.

If the minimum wage is raised, prices will be raised, jobs will be lost. No one wins.

because the price of products will rise and that wage increase will not be the increase that it seems to be. simple if you think about it. how can anyone fall for the liberal disinformation. " Republicans only care for the rich?" There are alot of poor Iraq's that would disagree with this.

Wow what are you guys talking about? An increase in the minimum wage works like this...you give people more money they tend to spend that money. So to review more money earned, more money spent. Historically that helps to stimulate a service market economy, which...JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE WHAT WE HAVE.

Well, it hurts small businesses far more than large corporations.
It also encourages the highering of illegals, as they are not bound by minimum wage.
