I would have to say giving advice. When you learn to listen to other people, you learn things about them, those around you, life in general, and so many more things than most people could possibly imagine...

And when people realize that you are a listener, they are usually willing to tell you more than someone who only pretends to listen, because they know that you are giving them your full attention, and trying to make the best decision/advice/reply that you can give them to the best of your ability.

Learning to listen to others, and getting them to listen to you, is almost an art form - when you only speak in response to a question or a request for help, and choose your words slowly so as not to disrespect others.....

THAT is a sign of the beginnings of Wisdom.....

Receiving advice

2006-11-08 02:32:26 · answer #2 · answered by ▒Яenée▒ 7 · 0 0

I'm not a big fan of unsolicited advice...either giving it or receiving it. That doesn't stop me from doing it though...I'm as guilty as the next person for handing it out like my wisdom is some sorta gift from the gods, so it's a complete hypocritical double standard on my part. Cause it drives me bonkers to receive it when I haven't asked for it.

But, when I do ask people I trust for real advice...I don't mind it at all.

I certainly LOVE giving and receiving advice as just as I love getting love and giving love.

Here's an advice for you because I love you:

Live life to give, not only to receive.

I will give my opinion when asked, and will also give advice when asked. My words are always carefully chosen so that anything I say won't come back and bite me in the a**. I never really ask for advice because I trust in my own instincts. Sometimes I just need a sounding board. Unsolicitated advice just annoys me because I take it as an insult. My response to that is, "Do I look stupid?!!". Maybe I can be a bit too touchy, but it works for me.

A little of both. It just depends on the situation. When I need advice, I'm happy to receive it. I give my advice only when asked, but ... be prepared to hear the truth!

I love giving advices,If one asks only. And when I do , I usually use lots of tact and never suggest something that I'm not doing myself. In other words I practice what I preach! As for receiving, I am able to take it, if in my heart it sound true. Sometimes though I have a little trouble when the advice comes from someone who does that stupid projection thing. Meaning they tell you what they really should do themselves!

Both! I love to give and receive, but probably more giving. It feels good to give advice sometimes.

Yes.

I try to only give when asked directly though.

I don't ask for advice often, because there is only a handful of problems I have ever had that I did not feel I could resolve completely on my own.
