I have 2 lobsters bought from a local fish market that have been living in a 75 gallon tank for almost 5 years now with no ill side affects. They eat brine shrimp and frozen fish blocks from your local pet shop. The lobsters acclimated well to there new surrounding and they have grown very large over the past couple of years. They were about a pound each and now they weigh 5 pounds and 6 pounds. Good luck with your lobster's.

You gotta get a salt water tank. A big one too. Lobsters get pretty big.
They don't really get along, (thus the rubber bands), so only get 1 or 2 to start with. They will eat anything they can catch, so other fish are not really possible, feeder fish only.
They're scavengers too. They eat whatever is rotting on the bottom of the ocean (meat and veggies), so feeding them shouldn't be a problem.
The need hiding spots, but aquariums sell them so that's not a worry.
My first response was to let it go in the ocean, but it would just be caught again, and eaten this time. I think they would make a very interesting pet. I certainly would never eat one. They stink and are the equivalent of ocean roaches. EEW!!
Good luck to you and your lobster friend. I hope it works out.

First of all get it into a saltwater tank... The cold tank in the store kept the lobster from wanting to move so it would be easier to catch and put up less fight. However if you want to keep him which I highly do not suggest, you'll have to slowly get it used to higher temps.. I would say only a few degrees higher at intervals starting at the degree they are currently keeping it at at the store.. secondly, the salt level is really important, make sure you're keeping it at the same specific gravity as is in the keepers tank.... You might ask... I would acclimate the animal back to normal temperatures and then do a release back into the wild.

I wouldn't know, but may I congratulate you on this wonderful idea - save a lobster! I've been a vegetarian for decades, and if more people did what you're doing, we'd be living in a better world.
All the best!

Homer Simpsons did this in one of the episodes. He wond up eating it in the end though.
They'll eat anything...mostly sea food.
i've seen a few in city aquariums.. they throw in shrimp and stuff. And the tank has got to be a 200 gallons or something. And the lobster you get at the store comes from New England... and it get cold there.

you need at least a 25 gal tank, and im not sure what they eat, and you need a pump and it needs salt water and that requires going to a fish supply place and learning what concentration of salt is needed for a lobster.

Go to a pet shop. You need to set up a salt water aquarium. You don't need a big tank but you do need lots of equipment.

Don't use regular tap water for the tank. The chlorine kills them.

It wouldn't survive unless you can throw it back in the deep ocean. The best way is to kill it quickly with boiling water. Another way is to drown it with alcohol. Any strong liquor will do. Your good deed will be remembered.
