Those are genres.

Little House on the Prairie is an historical fiction book. It is set in pioneer times.
Harry Potter books are fantasy.
Star Wars books are science fiction.
Non fiction books are true. Examples would be a book about tigers or planets.
A book about a real person's life is a biography.
General fiction is fiction books that could happen right now.

These are "genres" of written material. Genre is a French word basically meaning type or category. Libraries and book stores have different sections for each genre. General fiction is just that--it doesn't fall in any of the sub-categories. Fantasy & Science-fiction are debated frequently. Fantasy is something that probably couldn't happen, under presently-known physical laws. Science-Fiction could happen, even if presently-known physical laws need to be extended a bit. Non-fiction is NOT FICTION: it is true, for instance a self-help book or a book about how to use a computer program. Biography is a book about a person. Historical fiction is a fictionalized version of a historical era or occurrence.
