What am I missing here?..... the first sign of pregnancy is usually that you are late or have missed your period......

If you are having your period why would you think you are pregnant? Sure you can take the test. If you are having implantation bleeding you might mistake that for a period, but it is only spotting. If you are NOT pregnant your body sheds the lining of the uterus---that is your period. If you ARE pregnant, the body uses that lining for the placenta and as a protective cushion for the fetus. You don't get your period then becuase the lining stays there.

Its not reccommended on the pregnancy test boxes to take it, because it is not as accurate. You should wait a few days until after your period. Most hospitals wont let you take one if you are on your period, they tell you to wait till after.
But yes it is possible for you to get your period or spot while you are pregnant.

If you`re having your period, why would you want to take a pg test? The fact that your shedding your womb lining means that no eggs can attach themselfs to you.

I bled through my two pregnancies, but it's highly unusual. Do you have other symptoms that make you think you may be pregnant even although you are having a period?
