I was diagnosed in June of this year. My husband and I have been trying to concieve for over 3 yrs. We have had 2 miscarrigages one while taking Depoprovera and one unknown cause. My doctor blew me off as far as fertility testing goes for almost 3 yrs telling me it was the birth control left over in my system. I also have hypothyroid disease. These things can make it very hard to lose weight as well as become pregnant. try this site to learn more. www.soulcysters.com

It's actually three separate words:
polycystic ovary syndrome -
A variable disorder that is marked especially by amenorrhea (Abnormal suppression or absence of menstruation), hirsutism (excessive body and facial hair, especially in women), obesity, infertility, and ovarian enlargement and is usually initiated by an elevated level of luteinizing hormone, androgen, or estrogen which results in an abnormal cycle of gonadotropin release by the pituitary gland called also polycystic ovarian disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome, polycystic ovary disease, Stein-Leventhal syndrome.

I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome.) I've never tired conceiving but knowing there are others out there with the syndrome can help you feel not alone. www.pcosupport.org really has helped me. There are online discussions boards there and friendships that are irreplaceable.

Yes, actually. I've mostly seen it as PCOS though (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).
I've heard that taking Metformin with PCOS can induce ovulation, therefore helping in acheiving pregnancy. ::shrugs::
