Well when in Las Vegas last week, went to the Grand Canyon. Totally took my breath away. Standing at the top at Guano point just looking out at that fantastic natural landscape made me feel as if hubby and I were the only people on a completely different planet. It was so peaceful and the most beautiful place I have ever been to!

Several "somethings" have taken my breath away:
Seeing each of my 3 children for the first time when they emerged from my womb
The Sistine Chapel and the work of Michelangelo
My first sight of Venice and the Piazza San Marco
The Blue Grotto in Capri
The Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve
The Maharajah's Palace in Mysore, India
The Antwerp Central train station in Belgium (you step off the train and feel like you're in a grand cathedral; it's nickname is the "railway cathedral")

I saw two dolphins while crossing the Bosporus in Turkey. They were swimming alongside the ferry... and it took my breath away...
Old people say that in the old times they used to be seen quite often but with the increase of Istanbul's population from 1 million to 12, the sea is contaminated and the dolphins have left. Now they are doing a great effort to keep the sea clean and I guess that dolphins have already started to come to take a look... :)

Has anyone been to Joafen, in Taiwan? Its an old mining village in the north. The tea shops are all on the side of the mountain looking across the bay, far below. Its stunning with the waves crashing in to the rocks, and the amount of different colours the eye can see is breathtaking. If you ever get the chance to see it, try to count how many. Its impossible! I recommend itto anyone.

17 yrs ago I was on a little bus crammed with tourists going from the town of Fethiye in Turkey to the beach at Olu Deniz. Everyone was chattering as the bus made its way through mountain roads, then suddenly as it drove over the brow of a hill the bus went silent. The view in front of us of the lagoon, the sparkling sea, the mountains, truly was breathtaking.
Three years ago visiting Achiltibuie on the Coigach Peninsula in WesterRoss, where my ancestors come from. We just arrived and walked down to the sea when suddenly four dolphins appeared and came in close to us as they could, then spent twenty minutes giving us the most amazing display of leaping and diving. during this, a seal appeared and watched us watching the dolphins. It was at twilight and the sea was steel grey and glittering, absolutely magical. As the dolphins swam off, two cormorants appeared and started diving for fish, making sounds like gunshots each time they hit the water. I'll never forget it.

I was visiting in Salt Lake City last year, and the skyline-the Wasatch Mountains-was the most breath-takingly beautiful thing I had ever seen. It was in early Spring, so there was no snow in the City, but the Mountains looked like Ice cream Cones; and, because the air was so clean, the mountains looked close enough that you could scoop the snow off just by reaching out the nearest window.
Of course, that wasn't really true, those mountains are HUGE...
But, it really was truly beautiful...

I was on holiday in Gran Canaria. We'd gone on a coach tour to the top of the island then went for a walk. The view of this volcanic island from the top, stretching down to the crystal clear blue sea was breathtaking.

Oh, I can imagine! I would have my breath taken away as well, no doubt of it! The first time I walked up to the rim of the Grand Canyon and looked in....I would say that did it for me!

When you look at the sky while flying in a plane at very high altitudes, you see that the sky is not so blue, but it gets dark blue. Another thing that always takes my breath is when I witness a shooting star. It is just so unique.
