It is a localized problem from the angle of political gains, and the political parties in India are playing sectarian politics. The Kashmir pundits' cause has been taken up by a non-political organization called RSS which is dubbed by the political parties as a communal organization. But actually, RSS takes up causes which are in national interest. It does not believe in dividing Indian public opinion on the basis of religion or caste or language. The problem of Kashmir Pundits is a matter of national shame that Indians become refugees in their own motherland.

the reason is obvious. Kashmir pundits are Brahmin's who don't constitute vote bank to main stream political parties. really it is shame on the part of political parties to maintain as you said Stoic silence. the brahmins in India are more neglected by the governments.in no other country we find such situation for their citizens seeking asylum as refugees. the Indian govt allowed srilankans, Bangladeshis,as refugees and providing lot of amenities forgetting Kashmir pundits.like other castes, brahmins in India do not vote for a single party as most of those are intellectuals, do not go for voting , even if they vote they vote for all parties from extreme right to left parties. that is the reason, for the governments for neglecting them as they are not a pressure group like Muslims, daliths and obcs.
