Which are more important, controlling the House of Reps or the Senate?

The senate. House sets are good for only two years, senate seats are good for six years. Like Jefferson stated the house is to the senate are like the saucer is to the cup of coffee. The house brings about new ideas which some are too controversial. Its the senates job to weed out the inappropriate ones and cool down the legislation to fit mainstream America.

There are good points for both. Each house is powerful in different ways.
Each seat in the Senate has more power because in most states there are only two Senators and most states have many Representatives. But there are some exceptions.
The most powerful in each House is the committee chairman because they have power to bring something fourth to have a vote or to dump it and not allow a vote.

Speaker of the house, if the president and vice president die together then the speaker aka Nancy Pelosi becomes president. Then the head of the Economic ways and means committeee. and other committee chair persons. you get to be a chair person by being assigned t a committe by being assigned by the majority leader (speaker for the majority) or the minority whip. The longer you've been there the higher you get up in the committee.

Both are obviously essential to get anything passed, but the Senate is more crucial in that there are only 51 people you need to "sway" to your side.
