I believe I've heard news reports that the ancient Sumerian (or another similar) culture had dildos, as they unearthed one phallic piece that seems to have been the first dildo.
Ever since people realized you could stick something up there, I'm sure they've been trying it out with various objects, although I'm not quite sure when actual dildos started being 'manufactured'.
