when l mean by that he died, did the shard get removed from his back?

No he didn't. He is currently traveling with Sesshomaru in the manga but I think he might be killed in the future because the shard in his back was purified by Kikyo and that shard might be the key to killing Naraku. We will have to wait and see. Adult Swim just aired the final episode, and Kohaku was still alive, as was Koga. The manga series is ongoing, and I am not sure when they will start with the anime. Here's a link to try:

i think of that the author merely have been given lazy and did no longer intend to make from now on characters or are merely leaving them open for extra arcs/plots merely like she did for **spoiler**s . h . e . s . s . h . y . -. s . a . m . a . ' . s . m . o . t . h . e . r .**spoiler**. and additionally, there are over 500 CHAPTERS of Inuyasha. no longer volumes. The episodes of Inuyasha merely isn't persevered. It surely ended extremely some time in the past. it is why it is looping.

So far Kohaku has not die. I think that he should not die because he and Rin would make such a cute couple.
