Being in the music industry, myspace does help a lot in promoting bands and their music. It's a great source to network business.

I have mixed feelings about MySpace. I think it's a great way to keep in contact with people that you don't get to see that often. And there are people who have met the love of their life on there. But, just like any other website, there are some nasty perverts who will stop at nothing to try and pick up on you. Take it from me, I have had my profile on there for about 2 monthes or so, and already I have had about 20 or so guys send me crude messages( and pictures! eeeeeeww.) And I think it's bullcrap that there are girls 16 , and younger, that have their profiles on there showing them wearing next-to-nothing, and either the parents are not monitering them on the internet, or they just don't care. Can you say extremely sad? Plus, like someone else just mentioned, there is a lot of drama that is initiated by MySpace. For instance, I was seeing this guy about a month ago, who I met on MySpace. Well, his ex also had an account, and what she did was basically cause problems between us, which wouldn't have been possible if MySpace didn't exist. But other then that, I like it a lot. I have relatives in other states that I NEVER get to see, so I like being able to communicate with them. I guess the good outweighs the bad in this case.

MySpace.com is an excellent resource for people to meet others for free. I envy the creatively done sites.
It's a huge global draw,for it's absolutely (or was, anyways) free...and that's why MySpace has it's problems:
Suspicions exist that envious owners of pay/membership personals sites have targeted MySpace, infecting it w/ nasty annoying viruses.
Then there are the "pros" who know MySpace is a HUGE draw--which attracts....what, people: say it with me......SPAMMERS!!!
And to the MySpace surfer, I offer advice to use common sense and be careful of the nasties and phonies all lurking out there--hoping you find REAL new friends.

I only like myspace for the funny pictures that me and my friends put on each other's pages. I also put myself on there to reach some old classmates. As far as it being negative, it's not, it's the people who make it that way.

its nice for networking & meeting freinds, but the abuse is becoming too rampant and the censorship is becoming tighter because of it. It has also quickly become a pop-culture icon. Im actually on it - and Im sure almost all of the people answering this question are too. Almost everyone has one nowadays - and those who dont are being pressured into it.

MySpace doesn't lead to dishonesty, lies, and cheating... The person does that on their own. MySpace just put it out in the open for you to see it.

blows, man.
Colossal waste of time and now that NewsCorp (aka Fox) owns it, it's about to become the most advertisement riddled place on the planet.
I say stay clear.
