Why should a tv program have a name like that ?

" Little nip here a little tuck there"

It is a common phrase in plastic surgery and that is what the show is about two plastic surgeons.

I think they chose the name and the signature phrase "So tell me what you don't like about yourself." to point to the fact that people think that a little plastic surgery can make them happy.

That was the point of last season and the Carver to tell the audience that it doesn't work that way. You can slap a new coat of paint on a car and it is still the same old car underneath. "Beauty is a curse."

Nip and Tuck is slang for plastic surgery, from the practice of Nipping or cutting away pieces, and tucking things up to tighten them.

If you get a Nose Job, your nose was nipped off becoming smaller, and Boob job, the skin was tightened and tucked to undo the damage of aging.

The show is about surgery and surgeons so it fits.

It's plastic surgery. Nip/Tuck is another way of putting it. Like nip and tuck. I think you get where I'm going with this.

It refers to the terms medical doctors refer to when dealing with plastic surgery. Why they call it plastic surgery is another questions altogether. They nip skin and tuck away skin to make people happier with their looks. For me I love looking the way I do. And will not do surgery, except as an life saving advantage. But everyone is different and that is what makes this country great.
