I am a cleaning lady, over the years I have recieved a cash (same as what they usually pay me ontop of reg pay), movie gift certificates, plant basket, homemade treats, a massage, a facial. I prefer something personal, cash is nice but it says you did not put a lot of thought into the gift. How about a good book and a bottle of wine? Give her something that lets her know you really do think of her as a person and not an employee.

Maybe a nice gift basket with a really nice card or handmade letter thanking the individual. There are loads of holiday baskets this time of year; an envelope with money or something really special to the person. If you know something intimate or an item they might have spoken of in the past that they always wanted, surprise them that way. My brother used to work as a cleaner and the wife he cleaned for, sent him a baby basket with jars of food, diapers, etc...because my sister in law had just had a baby around the same time. Hope this helps.

The equivalent of a weeks pay, in crisp bills in a nice card left in an area where you normally leave notes for the cleaning person.
Gift cards are nice, but should be for more than the weeks pay due to the inconvenience of going the store to use it.
