If you decide to have children then take care of them yourself and dont try to make smokers pay $100 to $200 a month for your responsiblitys. Raise the taxes for people with children. You spend all of your money and so do I. Im tired of paying more in taxes while all of the parents get tax breaks. They use more of the government resource then I do, yet pay less taxes. Prop 86 Imposes additional $2.60 per pack excise tax on cigarettes and indireclty increases taxes on other tobacco products. Provides funding for various health programs, children's health coverage, and tobacco-related programs.

If we need more money in taxes simply tax something that we all use like gas or water or electricity. Its wrong to target one group of people. Children will still grow up and pay taxes. Im saying that their parents should pay their fair share while their kids are growing up and not expect everyone else to pay for them. Why am I getting responses suggesting that if parents pay their fair share of taxes that their kids will not grow up healthy to pay their taxes.

Because everyone benefits from healthy children. Healthy children grow into healthy tax-paying adults who fund the Social Security you will be living on (for about 5 years, or until the money dries up).

Actually, smoking taxes should go higher to about $5.00 a pack or more to fund medical programs in the state, and tax increase on alcohol to fund it also. The reality is I would be willing to pay more in taxes to insure kids and people without insurance because the non-insured actually drive up healthcare costs long term and close down hospital that alone makes for more drastic measures later on. America needs to start to wake up the smell the coffee on healthcare and look overseas for solutions to healthcare its a waste to spend 15% of GDP on healthcare and costa ricans live longer than Americans. Raising the taxes on people with childern is idoitic because we need those childern to fund social security for Gen-X and Babyboomers years down the line, and really need to pay people to have kids Austraila, and Russia are doing it for good reason to fund social programs.
