I wouldn't make a habit of it... there are many instances of people who went out and got trashed before they knew they were pregnant, and those babies turned out fine. I would drink if you know for certain you are though. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a nasty thing, I wouldn't want to take that chance.

although some babies come out fine from women that don't know that their prego and party, it's still best to be on the safe side, if you're not pregnant now, but having unprotected sex, lay off. Do you really need to drink to have fun? Think about your baby's health, since it can't say "MOM! no more booze ok? I'm underage!" for itself. there are a lot of things that can harm your baby on their own, you might as well take the precaution of not drinking until after your baby is born.

The short answer is: maybe. Why risk it? Once you know you're pregnant, lay off the booze.

The longer answer is, don't feel guilty if you subsequently found out that you were pregnant AFTERWARDS. There's nothing you can do about it now, so save the guilt (it's negative and won't help the baby much either!). Just don't drink anymore until after he or she is born.

YES...the first 12 weeks are the most imortant part of a developing baby. But if you mean that you drank before you knew you were pregnant, then I would say the baby should be fine as long as you don't drink for the rest of your pregnancy.

I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks after I got married, and I drank alot after my wedding, and my baby came out fine.

Yes it will hurt the child... The alcohol comsuption you intake transfers to the fetus and is alot more deadly because it stays there longer and is in a higher content. I would highly recommend not drink while your pregnant. You could cause FAS (fetal alcohol symdrome) where you child could be born with physical and mental problems, poor coordination, short memories, problems with learning. Here is a site to help you learn about it: http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/FAS/FAS.html
Please don't drink while pregnant! :)

Don't drink while pregnant, honey. I know a young man with fetal alcohol syndrome and, even though it's a mild case, he still has it. His mother drank beer and wine often.

You're ok, cuz you only had one or two, from what it sounds. Just don't drink anymore, hon.

Yes, don't take even the littlest chance of harming your baby. Even just a little alcohol could effect your babies devopment while in your tummy and even after its born. Have you ever heard of ADHD? One known cause is from a mother drinking while pregnant.

The baby doesn't share the blood stream with mom until 6 weeks.

Many women drink and then find out they are pregnant. They have perfectly healthy babies.

However, I'm sure (well I hope) you are no longer drinking since you found out you are pregnant though! :)

ABSOLUTELY!

Have you ever heard of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome?

FAS is characterized by abnormal facial features, growth deficiencies, and central nervous system (CNS) problems. People with FAS might have problems with learning, memory, attention span, communication, vision, hearing, or a combination of these. These problems often lead to difficulties in school and problems getting along with others. FAS is a permanent condition. It affects every aspect of an individual’s life and the lives of his or her family.
