I'm pregnant, and it's high risk. There is a good chance that I will be out of work, on bedrest. Does the state of Virginia have any benefits for that?

Every state has provisions for maternity leave. If you are pregnant and want leave you can definitely do so. Contact local employment office for exact information.

I looked at Virginia's state web site and only saw Unemployment Insurance. It's a program administered by the Virginia Employment Commission.

The Virginia Employment Commission
703 East Main St
Richmond, VA 23219
804-786-1485

Mailing Address:
P.O. Box 1358
Richmond, VA 23218-1358

Direct access to the VEC Administrative Offices in
Richmond for TTY callers: 804-371-8050.
For easy access to Virginia Relay
(Telecommunications Relay Service) dial "711",
or use the toll free access numbers:
800-828-1120 (TTY), or 800-828-1140 (voice).

Give them a call. Social Security benefits administered by the Social Security Administration are much harder to get on and require that you're unable to work for at least 12 months. See: http://www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/

Good luck!
