I don't think so. I have the movie and have watched it many times and don't recall seeing "based on a true story." A lot of movies if they are based on true stories will say so either in the beginning or end of the movie.
There are many incidents where people are wrongfully accused, and do spend time in jail when they are innocent. Maybe you've heard of a similiar story to this?

Yes, I think it is, because I watched the movie last year, and I heard people say it's based on a true story, but I could be wrong. Pretty good movie. I recommend that you watch it .
