Well I'm the designated Cook since my father died.....so I always stay at home and cook the traditional Feast....I tell my friends and family it's open door at my house on holidays....Everyone is welcome!.....I cook up our family's traditional feast and usually add a new different something Iv been wanting to try out as well.....I usually start cooking/baking Pies/cookies(jello salads.. & prep work) on wed....and theT- bird on Thursday...it's a ton of work specially since I do it all myself now that Dad has passed( we always did it together ever since I was young girl, just us two)....but everyone really apreaciates it! so it's worth it !! whatever you do, Rember, Thanksgiving really isn't about the food...though try to tell that to the men...lol....it's really about family and good friends getting together and enjoying each others company....and being Thankful for each other.....
Have a Great day!
Blessed Be!

Well, one year we went out and the food was aweful. Everything was waaaaaaaaay too salty. So for the past several years I've been cooking both Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner. Two years ago we were in Disneyland so it was dinner out at the Disneyland Hotel. Last year was the first year we went out to dinner for Thanksgiving since that aweful meal many years ago. It was nice, pricey but nice. And last year we had Christmas dinner out.

This year my daughter wanted me to cook as she wanted my special turkey (thanks to Giada DeLaurentiis of Everyday Italian on the Food Network). After some discussion we have decided that we will go out for Thanksgiving but stay home for Christmas dinner. Mainly because my friend likes to go hit the wineries in Napa the day after Thanksgiving and it has sort of become a ritual for us. This way I won't be overly tired from cooking all day then cleaning everything up. Plus it's just 3 of us, my mother, daughter & I so it makes it a little easier to go out sometimes.

If your mother enjoys cooking maybe this year you can lend her a hand or do it all while so she can relax. Or make it a family event where everyone has a portion of the meal to make.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

I cook for a living, and sometimes I just don't want to at home to take a break. But, Thanksgiving is the one holiday that I just HAVE to cook! Last year was the first year we didn't have kids in the house (they all are in different states/military) And I still made dinner for hubby and myself. The smell of turkey cooking, yummmm. Lets just say we didn't have to worry about what to eat for the next 5 days....Love green bean casserole too!

I like to stay home and cook as a family. Try helping your mom cook so she is not doing all the work.

We don't keep Thanksgiving in Australia, but I really think we should. Most people don't really understand who they are giving thanks to anymore. Abraham Lincoln started the tradition when the blessings given to Abraham (from the Bible, coincedence in the name? I think not) came into being. He said we should give thanks to God for the wonderful blessing He bestowed on us.

As to staying at home or going out? I would (if we did it here) love to stay at home and have a good home cooked meal with all the family. Not a lot of people do that any more.

I love to cook and have Thanksgiving at my home, but what I hate is that I bust my fanny to get the house spotless and then the whole family comes swarms the food, trashes the house, then everybody goes out side so they don't have to do anything and I get stuck with the mess. Yes, I like to go out and eat!

How about sending her to visit someone she has not seen in a long time (old friend down the road for coffee, you put on the spread.) If you hate cooking, order ahead most nice grocers sell a package. PUt it in nice dishes, sere up like home cooked. Add a small touch by baking ahead. Just an idea.

There is no other way than the home cooked meal. If you don't want your mother stressing out, why not put her in charge of 2 things like the turkey and dressing, and everyone else bring a dish.

i like to bypass out, yet i prefer to cook dinner my own nutrition, ha, sounds stupid. i do no longer basically like the seen the cook dinner, sweating, choosing their noses, or scratching their behinds, sneezing, and so forth. and so forth, on an analogous time as preparing my nutrition. i won't be in a position to make certain them cooking, so when I do bypass out to eat, i attempt to forget approximately that any of which may be occurring. A blessing over my nutrition, erases that stuff from my recommendations.
