You can do this at the US Copyright Office – see the last 4 links in the source box. The application is fairly simple & the cost is $45 per application.

Despite what others state, a "poor man's" copyright is NOT the same as registering it. Here's what the US Copyright Office has to say:

"The practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself is sometimes called a 'poor man’s copyright.' There is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and it is not a substitute for registration."

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

send for form P.A. from the library of congress which you can go online and do now...type out your lyrics and record the songs/or tablature..it used to cost 10 dollars I don't know what it is now...until you get your real copyright you could do a poor mans copyright which is the same as above but send it to yourself registerd mail and don't open it until you recieve the true copyright..so until it is legal you will have something that will stand up in a court of law...good luck.....

user-friendly and straightforward: you very own the copyright as quickly as you write something down (presented you probably did no longer scouse borrow it interior the 1st place). Why no longer wait till you're making a high quality demo -- if it particularly is sweet stuff do no longer provide it away too quickly.
