I'm watching the election night celebrations on the news where the candidate comes out and speaks to all their cheering supporters. I was just wondering how you get to attend an event like this. Do you have to receive an invitation, is it open to the general public, etc.?

Every one that I have ever attended was open to everyone. You can call the party HQ for location, etc. If you call after hours on election day, there is usually a message that tells you the info. Go to the internet site and it will be posted. This is a lot of fun and they always need volunteers to keep the refreshments going or to decorate before the party. Take off work the following day so you can get some sleep. Sometimes the election results come in late and no one wants to leave! Have fun!!

It depends on the office and the candidate. A member of my family was invited to one of the victory celebrations, because he worked for the candidate in the past. But at the same hotel a floor below the invitation celebration was a celebration for the candidate for a different office that was open to the public, so he thought he might stop by that party, too.

Three ways to get invited. 1) be a close personal friend of the candidate. 2) be a campaign volunteer. 3) donate a significant amount of cash to the campaign.

If you are a registered voter in that party, just show up. You ARE invited to celebrate. That's it!

I think that you have to be invited... or know someone who is invited.
