Alot of people these days think that Asian people are people that have chinky eyes. And when they think of countries like India and such, they dont consider it as part of asia and instead a sub-continent. So is India a sub-continent or a part of asia?

Thats a good point. I always considered India to be a part of Asia, but people do seem to just be refering to Chinese, Japanese, Korean....when they refer to Asian. They don't seem to be refering to India and Pakistan. I'm sure I was taught at school that India is part of Asia.

India, Pakistan, Bangla Desh and Sri Lanka are collectively referred to as 'South Asia'. This distinguishes them from 'East Asia' (China, Korea and Japan), 'South East Asia' (Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand etc), 'Central Asia' (former Soviet republics) and 'West Asia' (Middle Eastern countries on the Asian continent).

In the UK, asians mean those of south asian decent. A subcontinent of what? mars? As much as you'd like to feel different and special...you're Asian. Deal with it.
