You will notice that the female guppy will look very swollen and if you look closely, you will see a dark spot near its belly. This dark spot is created by the unborn babies eyes. This dark spot will get somewhat larger and easier to see as the fish's pregnancy gets further along. Guppies have a very short length of pregnancy, so watch the females. Although it may not be the same for other people's fish, but mine always had their babies in the morning. They would start having them right before I turned on the aquarium light.
The females will need to be seperated from the other fish to protect the babies from being eaten. There are several types of devices available for this purpose. I would recommend going to a pet store and buying a plastic type that has a grid in the bottom where the babies can go through the openings of the grid into a small compartment on the bottom where the mother can't eat them. Although the mother fish are less likely to eat their young as they are giving birth, there are never any assurances. The best way to handle it is to put the pregnant fish into the plastic compartment when she begins to look fat and check on her as often as possible. When the babies start coming out, keep the lights off in the aquarium. This will allow the babies to sink into their special compartment without being seen. Turn the light on to check every now and then. When you are certain she has had all her babies, put her back with the rest of the fish.
Guppies can sometimes have very large amounts of babies which makes it quite easy to get your tank overwhelmed with so many fish. After the babies are big enough that the parents won't eat them, release them into the tank. Once you've decided that you have enough fish in your tank, just stop putting the pregnant fish in the plastic container. Although most of the babies get eaten that way, some will survive and its better to do that then to let your tank get overcrowded.
Also, type in "pictures of pregnant guppies" into your search engine and look for pics that will show the dark spot I mentioned or even, perhaps, you could find some pics of baby guppies being born. Good luck!

Do you have to separate the male from the babies?? Does the male eat the eggs/babies?

Ask at a pet store how many weeks it takes.
