Its kind of sick how our world laughs in a movie when a big green ogre farts. just using shrek as an example. WHY?

I don't know. I must admit, I love fart jokes. I think its because it makes us all human, and even though I don't like to be immature, I really don't like fake or snobbery of any kind.
When I get together with my sisters the topic of conversation always comes round to our latest fart stories. We just have a good laugh and feel better.

Offensive gestures by anyone..Ogre, human, dog....Are exactly that. Is a flattulent actually capable of possessing a punchline? I'd hope not (point was made by the initial statement). Why do many find it funny? Because it is natural for an Ogre, green, blue, red, purple...to blow off steam. The funniest part I can think of would have to be the room clearing, and the Ogre following those he drove away. Smile, but hold your nose. And don't ask the Donkey for his comment on this subject.

I was gonna say toilet humor is the s-hit. But that's so juvenile. I guess because most people aren't really all that bright would be the answer to your question.
Addendum/edit: OK, I change my mind. There are so many noble, intelligent comments that defend the validity of toilet humor, I must now proudly say that toilet humor is the best! Toilet humor all the way!

Becuase people think that fart noises are something to laugh at. If you had farted in a long funny way in public, i gaurantee someone would be laughing.

well, if something like that is inappropriate in a situation, and unexpected, its kinda funny. think about it, theres a billion different ways that pressure could have come out of a human, but nature chose to have it come out of the two biggest pieces of ham on our bodies. a little air, a little moisture, and PFFFT! there it goes. why not laugh?

We laugh at ANYTHING we find a bit embarrassing, I have an 11year old ... and am grateful he still thinks potty humor is funny~

because we can't always control the sounds and smells our bodies make.....so-we humorize it to cover our embarrassment-we make it funny,if you can laugh at someone else farting-you can certainly laugh at yourself
