I won't try to speak about all insects, but mosquitoes are attracted to skin heat. Many people normally have higher skin temperature, but high blood pressure also creates such heat. My wife waked behind me in a Maine woods. In the middle of the day, she counted 20 mosquitoes on the back of my tee shirt. She wasn't bothered at all. . . but, then, neither she nor I wear perfume.

If you were an insect wouldnt you rather bite a girl than a boy? Boys are stupid and smelly.

I really think:
that it's cuz most girls' skin are thinner compared to guys. (Ok, speaking of the majority here)
they are less active and well.. less exposed to this harsh environment.
they apply mosturizers.
they use dove soaps.
lastly, since they eat selectively, LESS FAT.
therefore, they have softer skin.. tender and more delicate. if i were a mosquito i'd say yeah delicious and doesnt hurt my.. needle..

bugs like sweet smelling things like flower and many of the scents in the soap or little kids perfume smell sweet and remind them of food
