Are eyes really windows into the soul?

In a manner of speaking yes, I believe this to be true. There has been many occasions where I would be talking to an individual. Everything seems fine with this person, but there is something in there eye's that says something different. If I 'm close to this person I'll ask what's wrong. Almost every time there was something wrong. I find it easier to read a woman's eye's. I think its because women show more emotion than a male.

Well, maybe not to the soul, but definitely to your innermost feelings and emotions. There are not a lot of people who can hide their emotions from their eyes. You've heard of cold, hard eyes? Puppy dog eyes? See what I mean? When a person laughs, the face only lights up totally when you see the laughter in their eyes. Or if you don't see it then you know their laughter is not genuine. A person may be outwardly happy, but look into their eyes and they are so sad!

Yes, I believe eyes are really windows into the soul because the bible says as a man thinketh so he is. That's why we need to be careful what our eyes see.

Since your eyes per se are the optic "nerve" which is an actual extension of sorts of the brain, they are more like the windows of the brain.
However, I am convinced that the "soul" is shining through as well.

i see sadness , hapiness and all other emotions in peoples eyes.. you only have to look at those poor mistreated animals you see on ads and stuff, i can tell when my children and some other people are lying to me by looking into their eyes , hence the saying windows are the eyes to the soul,, maybe i am werid i dunno but i can tell a lot from observing peoples eyes, kinda like a body language.9 times out of ten im right .

well, yes i guess i do. if i ask someone a question, like whether they're ok, or whats wrong, or if they agree, i look straight into the eyes. if a person looks down when he answers, he may not be honest. i read most people by the eyes, and sometimes, just to throw them back, i'll tell them what they really meant, or why they said what they said. they deny what i say, but it's interesting watching them turn pale and their eyes grow big.

I think that if your sad, your eyes show it, but if your sad and you hide your eyes with a smile, you can decieve people with your eyes and block the window to your soul. If that makes any sense to you.

I don't know about the soul, but a blank stare while you are talking really can tell you a lot.
so can a twinkle.
I can tell when my kids are sick by looking at their eyes.
You certainly can tell a lot about how someone is feeling by their eyes, but I don't think you can see the ultimate condition of their soul. not really anyway.

I believe this is true. I think that you can look into a person's eyes and find complete truth. Clothes, hair, makeup, etc...all of those things are changeable, even a person's weight can skew your judgement about what kind of person they are. The truth about who someone really is can be found by looking into their eyes. They don't lie.
