That's the main confusion most "pro life" people make. Being pro-choice does not mean that I am pro-abortion. It means I am for the rights of the people. Nobody is for abortion. Nobody wants it to happen. The facts are though, if you allow the government to strip you of your rights, no matter what they are, you will never get them back. And it makes it easier for them to take away more and more rights. I am pro-choice because the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution gives a woman the right to decide what she will and will not do with her body, and I am pro-constitution, and pro-peoples rights, and pro-choice. Besides, no matter how you feel, in the end it's none of your business what a woman does choose to do with her body. If if offends you, then don't do it. If you choose to teach this to your children, right on. But if you want to take away more of my rights, then you can stick it up your............

I respect your pro-life position but, I think it takes more than being against abortion to be pro-life..The way I see it most (probably not you) Republicans are Pro-Fetus...Because once the baby is born,...They do not give a damn about it!!!! They want to cut services like WIC that provide milk , and job training for unwed mothers...That is not PRO-LIFE......
And If abortion is murder...What about killing Innocent Iraqi women and children is that not murder..And they had nothing to do with 9/11 ...so please do not refer to the innocents dying that as terrorists....I think you are a caring person and I really wonder how you
can not also see this an important and see all human life as valuable...Even if they are not american...these are the teachings of Jesus...Jesus says you shall not kill...I bewlieve it...98% of the bible is about helping the poor a Democratic tradition...I just do not understand how we pick and choose these commandments to obey....

I am a Democrat. I was raised up that way. As I realize what both stand for, I am still Democrat. I think Republicans try to tell people what they can and cannot do (gay marriage, abortion) in this free world. I do not agree with gay marriage or abortion in most cases. However, I do not think that there should be a law dictating how someone wants to live (homosexual).

that's not really the main issue for a republican, so it is weird that you choose the party on that one sole issue.

I am a Republican because I am a proud American that doesn't like working my *** off to pay for people who like to sit around and do nothing. I am a Republican because I believe in less government, less spending, less taxes. I am also pro-life, but that is not high on my list as I differ on things like if the girl is raped or the baby is from incest. I am a Republican because I believe the Democrats are weak and if we had a civil war, I know which side I would want to be on.

I think you got it backwards, Verde. I'm with the question asker.

Sure, lower taxes, less government, etc. are important, but these are dwarfed by life issues. Abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, and so on, far outway other traditionally conservative stances.

Just my $0.02.

--- EDIT ---

And to Trans Fat, if no one is "for abortion", if no one wants them, then why are there millions of abortions each year? And in fact I disagree that no one wants them, there are some groups (ACLU, Planned Parenthood, to name a few) WANT loads of abortions to promote their warped agendas.
