A friend of mine was asking me this the other day, but since I am not in the IT industry I have no idea. If anyone knows please provide any input, thanks!

So he is majoring in IT ( it will either be Telecommunications or Enterprise Resource Planning)

He is interested in the following Minors: Marketing, International Business, Human Resources, Ecommerce, Economics

Out of these minors above, which one would work best in the with an IT major... 3 years from now (2010)?

Thanks for the answers...Atena4eve thank you very much for your input. I was just wondering if you would know...If my friend can enter the Advertising(Creative) industry with an IT degree...but then I would assume the minor should be marketing...?

I would probably choose Human Resources, but preferably organizational behavior. IT is as much about people as it is about technology. If you cannot convince your organization that certain technological changes are necessary, then you will not be successful in implementing any new technological plans. Your users are the most important part of your IT infrastructure. If you cannot convince or adequately train your users, your infrastructure will fail.

Your friend can enter the Advertising industry. In fact, IT and Advertising are very much related. Lots of advertising professionals must be able to work with Adobe/Macromedia and other types of media software. But in advertising - as in any other industry - you need hands-on experience, therefore your friend needs internships (paid or unpaid) to get some experience.
