is it really common for newborns to have the pink eye?

no a pink eye is an infection and it should be treated

I don't know if is common or not, what I do know is that the last time I had it, my doctor said that pink eye was often a symptom of something else. So any baby that has it should definitely get checked out.

I am not sure whether it is common or not, but if your child has pink eye then you should go to the doctors. They will give you an ointment, so you don't have to worry about it.

Pink eye is a contagious infection...I suggest this infant be taken to the doctor NOW

Its not common but it happens.
Babies have the same symptons as adults. you can get pink eye at any age

if your baby is VERY new it could simply be a plugged tear-duct. Squirt some breastmilk in their until you can get to a doctor. I've only used breatmilk for any eye issues my kids have had. The stuff is amazing!
