Yes, dearheart, gay sex was and is banned. It's banned by most religions and there are a few states that have it banned as sodomy. I agree that it's a silly thing but whoever said that government and religions weren't silly? Blessings.

Yes it was once banned and still is in some countries. Mostly middle eastern countries where nothing but blowing each other up is accepted. Even these days there are ages where it is illegal to have gay sex before you hit that age. I know in OZ it is a lot higher than hetro sex. I don't understand why though. We certainly aren't causing the overloading of single mothers or people who get pregnant and dont want the kid so the kid suffers.

Wow, I'm suprised that NO ONE got the answer correct.
On 26 June, 2003 the United States Supreme Court made a landmark decision against the state of Texas’ law against sodomy. The Lawrence v. Texas ruling actually revoked ALL sodomy laws nationwide, with exception to Virginia. They are the only state which is currently decenting this ruling and still has active sodomy laws on it's books.

I think it was indeed banned at some point: when religion played a bigger part in everyone's life, homosexuality was considered to be an evil thing, so, it was banned, and made illegal to practice gay sex. It's a fairly recent thing to have such open acceptance of people's sexual orientation.

Gay sex is still banned in alot of places but it's common place out side of the lime light and most people don't really bother to censor it because of political incorrectness issues. I don't care either way if gay people are around or not it's never really bothered me and i think your right, It is stupid to ban things people believe are immoral or unnatural. Hey if monkeys can do it and other animals don't care why should it matter if we can do it or not, Right?

Count your blessings if you're in the West. Some countries are much worse. In Iran for example: President Ahmadinejad, whose platform included "moral cleansing," has a squad of men who ensare gays and transgendered people by using the internet, then arresting them. "In many cases arrested gays are tortured until they confess to "crimes" they never committed. Fabricated charges -- usually of rape -- are used to justify public executions." And no, I'm not going to relay the story of a survivor's torture there in the article. It's too horrific. And they say WE are going to hell...
