Only you can make that decision. Is this mistake relatively minor (forgetting to put the toilet seat down) or something pretty major (cheating, lying, etc.)? Figure out how this mistake affects your life - if it's a mere inconvenience or something that hurts you in a fundamental way. If it's the former, you can decide if you can live with it or not. If the latter, maybe you should distance yourself from this person.

Honestly a mistake IS something you can learn from. If your "friend" refuses to learn and does the same thing over and over it can't really be classified as a mistake. Your so called friend is taking advantage of you, and that should never be allowed. Yes we are supposed to forgive, however we were given enough common sense to know that there is a time to stand up for ourselves. Enough is enough.

If you want people to forgive you when you make stupid mistakes you need to forgive them. If the mistakes are harming you in any way you should still forgive them but remove them from you so they cannot hurt you anymore.

Because Jesus tells us to. When asked, "How many times do I forgive someone?", Jesus instructed the man, "70 times 7", which is a Jewish way of saying "over and over again".

Now... we are instructed to forgive people who trespass against us, but we're not told to be suckers or let people walk all over us. So forgiving doesn't mean trusting... or putting yourself into a position where you can be wronged repeatedly.

So forgive as many times as it takes!

That depends on the mistake, but my opinion would be that it that person continues to repeat the same mistake over and over again and you getting mad at the person and explaining what it does to you doen't get that person to stop making the mistake, you should just make that person learn with some tough love. Teach him/her a lesson so that he/she learns from it, the hard way.

I'm the same way you are. I know people make mistakes and should be forgiven, but if they make this same mistake several times I get fed up and thats where I draw the line.

forgive the mistake . and don't allow yourself to put into the position for that person to make that mistake with you again. especially since they refuse to learn..

Something Specially
For You

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard-
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word!
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn't mind)-
I asked Him to send you treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!
I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And my friendship to share your way
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small-
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

It depends on what they did. If someone accidentally keeps stepping on your foot you forgive them (and be careful around them next time). If someone keeps shooting you in the foot, you don't forgive them even once, you boot them out of your life.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. If you always forgive someone and they know they can get away with it, they will continue to do it. If it is something that is really bothering you, talk to them about it. Maybe they don't even realize it is hurting your feelings. If they refuse to respect you than they probably aren't anyone you want in your life anyways!
