I think it is because they are jealous because they don't have musical talent.
Also most (not saying all) but most band people are well rounded and smart and active in other school organizations.

That is messed up Birdman.
I have never done drugs or drank alcohool in my entire life. I have never smoked anything and I mean anything in my life.
Infact I have never drank coffee nor do I even have the desire to do so, it is bad for you.

Our band has made three 1st Divisions in a role. So our band is good.

What you say is true about the kind of people in band and music programs. But a student not in band has a hard time relating to much of the music played by a band in today's pop culture. I have also found, if the band teacher isn't very good, the music is not very good, therefore it does not hold a popular position with what's cool. I was in a school once with extraordinary music program and both band and choir were very popular and you were hip if you tried out and made it in.
Regardless, if anyone would choose not to participate in band for the sole reason its not cool, they are missing out on a huge fun learning experience in life. No one should choose what they wish to do based on other's opinion about what's cool.

Amen! I was never in band, but had friends that were. My youngest son was in band but quit because of peer pressure. Now he really regrets it (4 years later). Hang in there and don't cave. (Even the friends who pressured him so much are sorry they acted the way they did )

In our high school, back in the 70's, the people in the band were the best people to go to if you wanted to get the good weed!

I say it's the uniforms, and most kids in band were big dorks. Maybe not all, but MOST!!

music is good for the soul.
when your older and can play an instrument it really impresses the other sex
