Rove is pretty smart, and like a lot of republicans, he thinks several moves ahead. I suspect he is still smiling even if today goes badly. With the negative news on the Iraq front there is not much to be done as the incumbent party.

I think his plan is to take it on the chin in 06 and come back in 08. There probably will be another rebellion against the incumbents in '08.

Rove knows that the Democrats don't actually have any effective ideas for dealing with Iraq and cannot handle the economy, so he is still smiling. Losing one of the houses now may actually help the chances for the GOP when it matters more in 08.

It's not over till Democrats take the White House. And still not.

In Georgia, Republicans are doing very well. Governor Sonny Purdue won. Alabama's Republican Governor got reelected.

Karl Rove did his job. I think that Cheney, his man David Addington, and Rumsfeld hurt the Republicans more. Tom DeLay did more to hurt the party. So did Foley the Pedophile. Even that homosexual hypocrite of the megachurch near Boulder, Colorado did more to hurt the party than Rove.

I think they've seen the loss of the House coming for a while. The Senate is still up in the air. Not much Rove could do about it.
