What is "it" all about? I just don't get it? Does this refer to some secret society that I am not privy to? Is this a Masons code phrase? Those damn Masons.

I have to agree with shermynew, I think the "it" is life, and they are telling you that doing the hokey pokey is what life is all about. But I am still holding out for a long shot Freemasons reference. Who can connect the dots?

Exactly! The "it" is about "life." You participate and join in with life and you move around and "live!"

The "it" is not the "hokey pokey" like some people apparently think.

you're examining too lots into it. this could be a dance, like the widespread version could be the macarena. The lyrics to the music are the stairs in achieving the dance. Hokey is a term for corny or lame, the dance pokes relaxing at its self as being lame and the twist is each and each verse provides yet another element, "that's what its all approximately" variations after each and every verse. It has remained customary and who is conscious possibly it has something to do with what you're implying. Is the subject that in case you maintain on with training you may get by way of existence? would be merely a sprint a stretch... "you place your left hand in...ew what did I merely positioned my hand in?"

The Hokey Pokey is a song and a dance, done by children for fun. That's what it's all about, means about the dance. You put your right foot in, you take your right foot out, you put your left foot in , and you shake it all about, you do three Hokey Pokey as you turn yourself about, and that's what it's all about. The song gives instructions on how to do the dance. The Hokey Pokey is a crazy gesture or movement one makes as they turn themselves around or about.

The hokey pokey song is in no way associated with Freemasonry. I can assure you of that 100%. Many believe that this song comes from the Shaker religion.
