It was in 1812 that Napoleon led 500,000 soldiers to invade Russia. They were staranded in Moscow, Russia's capital due to the bitter winter weather. The Russians had set fire to much of the city, destroying food & shelter needed by the Napoleon's troop. He retreat & half of his men died.

I dont know the year, google it. He reached moscow, it was abandoned and burned by the Russians, The russians came back and attacked Napoleons army, which was cold and hungry, he then retreated because there was no food or shelter needed for the army (ie it was burned earlier)
