A freind of mine was in the exact situation. The pharmacist gave her birth control pills and told her to take two now and another two twelve hours later. We also double checked with a gynaecologist to make sure, he agreed. (The after-morning pill was not sold where I lived back then.)
The after morning pill is basically a birth control pill but with stronger dosages. So take 4, 12 hours apart...Good luck!

DON'T TAKE LOTS OF BIRTH CONTROL PILLS, it is not the same - there are other hormones in most types of birth control medication. The easiest solution for your problem is, instead of having your seven day break, just start the next pack immediately. You will not have a period until the end of the second pack. This is not harmful - it is the same procedure as you would use if you missed a pill during the last seven days of your pack. You may experience some light spotting, but at least you will not have a period.

If you read the information packet that comes with the birth control pills, some do mention that taking 3 pills has the same effect as a morning after pill. Of course then you are missing 3 pills in your pack, so it would be better to contact Planned Parenthood to get the Morning After Pill(Plan B). It is effective for up to 72 hours after the fact. Also, if she was already on birth control she should be ok, not necessarily, but most likely she's covered all ready. I would definitely call the PP clinic though and get the morning after pill, just in case.

NO. Morning after pill has a certain dose of the right hormones, different from the pill, and the pill comes in different doses. If you need a morning after pill, see planned parent hood, and some states sell them in the pharmacy(over the counter) if you need it NOW, go to the ER and they will give you one. It can be taken up to 72 hours after intercourse. Good luck.
PS writing negative things is not grounds for you to report someone, you asked the question, you'll get an answer, even if you dont like what it is. Im sorry if she is in high school, and i hope you didnt know that before having sex. Be smart, think it through, use a condom, and spermacides... cost: $13, cost of a kid years 0-5 $132,000 Good luck!

Well if 5 birth control pills are as effective as the morning after pill your friend might want to start looking at baby furniture. The morning after pill is only 85% effective and that is IF it is taken according to instructions AS soon as possible after sex, because the longer it takes to get the morning after pill the LESS effective it is. To top it off the birth control pill controls ovulation and fertilization, the morning after pill prohibits an already fertilzied egg from implanting, they have two totally different functions. The morning after pill is actually an abortive, yes an abortion in pill form. Your friend is awfully gullible if she thinks she can prevent being pregnant by listening to her friends. And go ahead and report me if you want. That isn't going to make your "friend" any less gullible.

I've never heard of taking 5 birth control pills. I think that would make her sick! I'm on BC and when my doctor told me to double up and take 2, 12 hours apart, I was up vomiting all night. Tell her to go to a Planned Parenthood and get the morning after pills. You can take them within 102 hours of unprotected sex! I just recently used them myself and got my period when I was supposed to. Good Luck.

the pill can make a woman very sick, taking 5 would have the potential to put her in the hospital. Taking 5 birth control pills at once IS NOT a safe way to prtect against pregnancy, and if she were already pregnant, it could cause severe birth defects...which would only make her situation worse.

I've never heard that, but I wouldn't recommend it. She should go to a Planned Parenthood or other women's clinic and just get a prescription for the morning after pill. I wouldn't mess with the 5 b/c pill thing.

It could be dangerous to her, she should go to a doctor and get the morning after pill, or just wait it out. I don't care what anyone says on here, unless they are a doctor, she should not take those pills. It might not affect some people, but it could her, you just never know.

No, not the same. Have her go to Planned Parenthood immediately. They will help her, and ease her mind. She will also get the education she needs so as to hopefully not have this happen again. Sounds like she needs a different option for birth control like an IUD, or implant.
