I just built a PC with SATA hard drives and Windows XP Media Edition and everything works fine except whenever I download anything online (drives, AIM, Winamp, etc.) the installation files are all corrupt. I try them on another PC and they work fine... what could the problem be?

Your memory is bad. Replace the sticks one at a time to see which is bad. If you can download them and use them on another PC then the files are not really corrupted, its just your memory is failing. If you don't know how to pull RAM sticks out and replace them and swap them around, take it to a shop, its a quick process to determine which stick is bad.
