When working on a large research paper, what is the best way to find accurate, academic or scholarly info? I've searched thru EbscoHost, Proquest, and google scholar with little success.

J, I love wiki too! In this class, however, it is a serious no no. Prof thinks it's popculture junk. I'll check ask.com, though. Getting desperate--I have only one semi-appropriate source and need at least 8 more. Wish I had never chosen this topic!

Your problem is that you are only looking for public online sources, like wiki, ask.com, and google scholar, etc. These are inappropriate to your task. You need academic (scholarly) sources, and these can only be found through your university's library. Go there IN PERSON.

If for some strange reason, you cannot go to your university library, go to their website. You can search their holdings (scholarly books and journals) there, and you can also access DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC databases. For example, if it is a religion paper, search "ATLA." If it is an American history paper, use "America: History and Life." There are hundreds more of these discipline-specific databases.

If you STILL can't find the sources you need, just talk to your librarian! They will show you where the books and journals you require can be found. I guarantee you, the information is there. You just haven't been looking in the right places.

You may be surprised at what you can find at ask.com. It is a really good website. Just type in the question and you can read about what you want. However the site I like the best is wikipedia, it is a encyclopedia online. That is one of the websites I visit the most.
