I like to think so, yeah. Actually, I know I do, because of recent words :)

First off, awesome question!
Second: I believe most people do have that unspoken bond because the connection you share with a best friend has a heightened aspect of communication. He/she wouldn't be your best friend if you couldn't have that kind of bond!
Further, I think that bond is a combination of time creating it, but also, we pick people with whom we will/do have a deeper connection to. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) refered to her best friend as a bosom buddy, in the true sense of the word: someone close and dear to your heart.
My best friend called me once when I was overseas and without having said more than a cheery hello, she knew instantly that I was having a horrible time. It's because 1) we've been friends FOREVER and 2) she can read me, and I could always lie with my words, but I could never with the vibe/feeling I was giving out.

Love the question, by the way!

if i am sad at home, it seems like she just randomly calls to see how i am doing and vise versa. we know what the other person is feeling even when we are not together. Once for example, i got really bad food poising. I told no one i was in the hospital, i had only been there for 45 minutes, and she just called my cell saying that wanted to no if i was OK. I did the same to her when she fell off her horse, i called her moments after it happened. it is like we have telekinetic powers.

Yes. There are certain things we don't have to say. And she knows I'll take her side in a fight without being asked.

we did, but then I got married, he got married (to other people). we truly were friends and my husband cannot understand how a man and woman can be just friends for ten years without being sexual together.
