Won't happen. Ohio is trying to ban smoking cigarettes just about everywhere in the state today. The liberals who want legal drugs don't want you to smoke a cigarette. Crazy crazy country we have now.

Put yourself in a parent's shoes, and we'll make a hypothetical story:

Your son/daughter comes home from high school with a report card that has numerous Fs on it. You notice that your kid doesn't seem to care. You now have this problem with getting your kid to sit down and talk to you about the report card.
At the end of the week, you are driving by the local park, and you notice a group of teens huddled around a bench. As you drive closer, you see (to your shock and surprise) your child, in the middle of this group, with a smoking pipe in one hand and a lighter in the other. When you drive slowly by, you can smell the smoke through your open window. You know that smell, because you once tried Weed when you were young, but after your first time, you learned the facts, knew it was illegal and decided to stop.
With the school failing and the illegal drugs you see and smell, you put 2 and 2 together, and by logical explanation from drug facts you knew as a kid plus consulting on drugs from your trusted family doctor, you realize your son/daughter is failing in school because of mental disorders caused by smoking Weed.

It's a VERY hypothetical story, but it can still happen. Weed isn't that great of a thing on the long term, and you can find proof all over the net about how Weed has been responsible for mental health disorders.
But as for the whole government sales thing, I could agree with you. I don't have a firm opinion here.

i would love to see the legalization of marijuana but your wrong about a new revenue for the government it grows in all 50 states and that would make it very hard to tax. but if it was legalized their would be an upsurge in use, but it would not last nor would you see a marked decrease in other drug use look at other country's that have legalized it you will see what i am saying.perhaps my first statement was a little off. they would make some revenue off store sales and they other things hemp can be made into but most smokers would grow their own thus avoiding any tax.

hmm thats a very good question.
I have many different opinions on marijuana. It causes many effects on people. Cancers, effects driving, many things. But doesn't it have the same effect as drinking and smoking.
Smoking causes cancer. Drinking causes basic "high-ness" and inability to drive.
Why shouldn't it be legalized. Taking drugs is a choice. Shouldn't marijuana be the same way?

Marijuana reform is essential for massive legislative and economic change in America. Prohibition of alcohol showed America how these things work, and history has been repeated again and again on this issue. Without blackmarket marijuana sales, crime lords will loose a major foothold on American politics.

i think you need to bone up on your history

before 1930 ALL 'drugs' were legal
marijuana, or pot for short was made illegal in the 30's and 40's by a series of misleading commercials, and an anti mexican immigration movement that swept the country

at the time, pot was not actually made illegal, you just had to get a stamp (yes it was an actual stamp) that proved you paid tax on your pot,

HERE IS THE CATCH

they never printed any stamps and thereby made it illegal, of course the laws have changed since then so that it is illegal now

hey i'm for it, pot is 99% harmless,
look it is already legal in denver

Well I think common sense would tell us that if you get rid of a law, that it would cut down on the number of people going to jail for said crime. The question is would it solve the problem. The question is, is mariguana legalization right.

I see it as hypocritical of American government legalize cigarettes which have health affects that include:
--cancer, cigarette smoking accounts for at least 30% of all cancer related deaths.
--It is a major cause of cancers of the lung, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, pharynx (throat), esophagus, and bladder, and a contributing cause to many more.
--Cancer makes up only half of the health affects.
--heart disease, aneurysms, bronchitis, emphysema, and stroke, and it contributes to the severity of pneumonia and asthma.
--If you smoke while pregnant you endanger your baby's health.
--Smoking gives a higher risk of miscarriage, early delivery (prematurity), stillbirth, infant death, and is a cause of low birth weight in infants. It has also been linked to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
--and that is not the end of the list! It goes on, and I excluded the effects of secondhand smoking which can kill people who have never once smoked a cigarette!

The Effects of smoking Marijuana?
--memory loss
--respiratory illnesses
--problems with learning
--higher risk of heart attack

In Summary, Marijuana does not cause nearly as many deaths as smoking does. AND as opposed to cigarettes marijuana does present some good things also. For one thing it helps people who have cancer in dealing with cancer's side effects. It also aids people who have extreme migranes.

Now that you know the side effects of both is is plain that cigarettes are worse then marijuana. If the government wants to make laws protecting americans from the stupidity of their drug related choices at least make the drugs that are illigal be the drugs with that cause the most health problems.

What is the moral? In terms of health, Cigarettes are worse then marijuana yet cigarettes are legal and marijuana smokers clog our jails.

I think it should be legalized, legislated and taxedand Taxed and TAXED! Alcohol is legal and VERY detrimental to the body. Also, one can use over the counter medications for stupid reasons, At least , marijuana could increase the appetite in dialysis or cancer patients, and also treat nausea ...

I think it is less harmful than excessive drinking. If marijuana were legalized, there would be less people going to jail and turning into hardened criminals. It would be better all around if it were legalized, less clogging of the court systems, cops could focus on things that matter...so on and so on

hmmmm the decriminalization of marjiuana will likely work better, here in canada we have slowly started to decriminalize it, but has it helped others get away from harsher drugs, no; has it helped the economy , no because it is not all government issued pot, only medically used pot is leagalized by certain doctors. so will legalizing pot work, no it own't, maybe in the next century when they use it to barter with...
