Well there isn't a whole lot you can do but there are a few things that can help you recover.

Drink lots of orange juice/anything with vitamin c in it. Vitamin C is essential to your immune system and will help it work properly. Eating healthy foods will also just keep your body healthy and running properly. When your body is running properly it can work better and that includes fighting off nasty colds.

On that note, get lots of liquids. This includes water especially; it's another one of those things necessary for your body running properly.

Get plenty of rest. Once again you need this so that your body can fight the cold.

Also, treat the symptoms. There are plenty of medications out there to treat cold symptoms. You can't cure a cold with medication but at least you can make yourself feel better!

My best advice is to use Cold-EEZE. I've tried it numerous times and if you get it going at the beginning, it works very well. Vitamin C simply boosts your immune system response and is great for preventing a cold, but once you've caught a cold it doesn't work so well. AirBorne does the same as vitamin C, only better, so I'd reccomend that in a prevention situation.

Although others have already said it, try taking Emergen-C or Airborne, and things that have Echinacea in it (I use the cherry halls throat drops, which also has zinc and vitamin c stuff. You don't need the cough drops with the menthol if you aren't coughing, and you can only take a certain amount at a time anyway.) Lots of fluids of course, too.

Take lots of Echinacea. If you take it as soon as you feel a cold coming on, it will prevent it from developing any further. If it's already set in, then it will dry you up quickly. Also, drink lots of hot, fresh orange juice. The excess vitamin C helps to fight off the cold quickly and having it as a hot drink helps to soother your symptoms.

What I usually do is buy a pack(or two) of Halls Menthol Coughdrops Maximum Strength (they're the blue ones). And I just carry it around with me the whole day after a couple of days the cold will fade away. It works for me but it might not work for you.

If that doesn't work use Robitussin's Cold and Cough.

If you use the coughdrops they taste a whole lot better.

rosemary and thyme tea with lemon juice always works for me. I used dry herbs from the supermarket and use equal parts of the thyme and rosemary and make a tea with it, then add lemon juice for its vitamin c. a few cups a day when i feel a cold coming on seems to stop the bugs in their tracks.

I find that what helps is vit c (500 every 2 hours) and also oregano oil , plus some emergenc and also eating a few grapefruits a day. This usually will get rid of it for me in 2 days, if it doesn't nip it in the bud.

Try Zicam. It shortens the duration of a cold. You can find it in drugstores.

I am not saying get drunk but a shot of whisky will help kill germs and viruses in your blood stream . you just have to make sure you drink plenty of water since whisky dehydrates you. . they actually used to prescribe whisky back in the day for lots of illnesses

Try EmergenC... its in most health food stores. Its flavored powder (kinda like poprocks) that you dissolve in water and drink. It has a TON of vitamins in it and has kept me from getting sick many times. But you have to take it ASAP or it won't kick-in in time.
