i think it means something like 9 times 3 would equal 27

Geometric mean of two numbers a and b = sqrt of ab
Therefore let us take a = 3 and b = 27
Therefore Geometric Mean ( G.M ) = sqrt ( 3 X 27 )
= sqrt ( 81 )
= 9

The geometric mean is the nth root of the product of n numbers. We have two numbers here, so we're talking about a square root. sqrt(3*27) = sqrt(81) = 9
