Your brake pads need to be changed. Also check you brake fluid level, might be low. If thats not it, bleed the lines. if not sure how, ask someone. its not too difficult. Or actually, the symptoms you describe is due to antilock brakes, which are hard, if not impossible to make lock-up.

60 percent of your braking is done by the front brakes. Does this vehicle have ABS? Sounds like a speed sensor dirty, out of place, or bad causing the ABS to activate. Air in the brakes? New master cylinders sometimes demand that you adjust the pushrod behind the master cylinder to get a full throw. You'll see it, it's adjustable. Check for air first. Bleed the system. Good luck.

It is called ABS or Anti-lock braking, it does that shaking and pulsing on purpose, to keep the tires from locking up, so you can control the vehicle during hard braking. Screeching tires during braking is not a good thing when trying to keep control.

if your trying to lock up the brakes your abs should be kicking in and out to keep that from happening. if your feeling shaking in the steering wheel when doing this you need front rotors, if they get warped they will cause a pulsation or shake when applying the brakes.

i own a repair shop and there not supposed to lock up,and squeak ,it has anti lock brakes on it, and there not supposed to ever stop that hard ,there not like the old brakes on the older vehicle's,they would stop on a dime, now days cars are designed to stop good they just wont lock the brakes up anymore ,and it isn't as good as the older ones as far as instant stopping but that's the way all the newer ones are they take some getting used to though,,good luck i hope this help,s.

it sounds like the rotors are warped probably from from being cut from a past brake job or two. after their cut they tend to loose their ability to disapate heat which causes wharping where the surface of the rotor becomes uneven. you could feel this in the brake pedal or throughout the truck when braking.
