I wasn't sure about this and I just started. If someone could give me an answer that would be much appreciated.

Yes, as long as you're not in danger of anemia. The nurse where you go to donate will test your iron levels before you donate whether you're menstruating or not and they won't let you donate if your iron levels aren't high enough. As long as you're OK on that score, you're fine to donate while on your period. I have.

When I tried to give it they told me know, because I was on my period and told me because I was arleady loosing blood that it didn't seem like a good idea.

Although it seems like the nurse was a little wierd.

I would ask when they take your blood.

Donor screening. To donate blood, you must answer a series of questions about your current health, health history, travel to countries where certain diseases are common, and behavior that increases your risk for getting certain diseases, such as drug use or unprotected sex. Your temperature, your blood pressure, and the volume of red blood cells in a blood sample (hematocrit) are checked. You may not be allowed to donate blood if any of these screening steps suggests a problem, such as potential exposure to an infectious disease or anemia.

specific, you are able to donate. Your would be screened for anemia to verify in case you are able to donate blood. if so, circulate forward. the quantity of blood loss throughout the time of commonplace menses is rather little and would not impression your hemoglobin point. while you're a healthful guy or woman, your physique will regenerate blood to change what's lost by blood donation and menses.

Yes, it is perfectly safe. We have a blood mobile that comes to our workplace several times a yr, and I asked the nurse because they usually schedule it close to my period, and she said it is very safe. She gave me a pamphlet which reassured me even more.
