has anyone on here ever had to have a colcoscopy? I think that's what it's called. I'm 18 and had sex for the first time about 6 moths ago. i thought i was pregnant so i went in for a pap smear and they couldn't get a clean one because after they put that little plastic thingy in i started bleeding really badly; so then i went back again and againg and again. Finally they found out that I had a rip in the wall of my uterus (i think) and they want me to have a test where they cut a piece of the lining of the uterus to test it. I'm also prone to ovarian cysts. Should I be worried?

I think the word you are meaning to use is COLPOSCOPY which is a procedure they perform that takes a piece of the uterine lining for testing. I have had one of these, and it's not that bad. I felt a little crampy for a bit the evening I had it done, but I was fine the next day.

Talk to your doctor about what concerns you should have and what affect your problems will have on your ability to reproduce. Also, I would suggest having someone like your mom or a good friend go along with you when you have your consultation with your doctor. It's always good to have a second set of ears to listen to what your doctor has to say. Sometimes when you're alone and you're taking in all the information, you don't think of questions to ask until after you've left the doctor's office.

I wish you the best of luck.

I am a nurse...who about 6 months ago had a colcoscopy to allow the doctor to biopsy (cut out a little piece of tissue) my cervix. The procedure was not particularly painful but it did take some time, and there was quite a bit of pressure felt internally...from a vaginal examination the uterus is not accessible, only the cervix...or the outer closure of the uterus.....the test can determine what type of tissue is growing there and detect any abnormalities.....hang in there...it is very frequently done.

I wish I could help you wwith an answer, but all I can offer is a prayer that God will be with you and the report the doctor gives will not be unto death.

You must remember God's report is the only one that matters, He wil have the final say.

May his grace and mercy be with you.
